Completely redesigned last year, the 2003 ES 300's only change is the addition of power-adjustable pedals.

Pros:
  • Comprehensive array of luxury and convenience features, superb ride quality, smooth and silent V6, advanced safety technology, excellent reputation for reliability.
Cons:
  • Bland driving characteristics, less powerful than most competitors, many of the desired features and options are expensive, no split-folding rear seat.

  • The Lexus Myth - 2003 Lexus ES 300

My Lexus knows the way to the shop and is not an extrordinary vehicle. I find the shop people nice and the service good but the vehicle should not have the brake, rattle and engine surging problems I have experienced in just one year. The really BIG surprise was the 15,000 mile check for almost $500.00, to check it over. WOW! This is my last Lexus.

Transmisson shift from reverse to drive is sluggish.Has slow pickup when passing. It looks too much like a camry.

I thought that when I was buying a Lexus, I was getting a reliable and quality vehicle. So I was willing to pay the high price. But for over one year the car shutters at variuos speeds. The dealer admits the problem but say that they dont know how to fix it yet. At least they fixed the warped rotors.

  • I rattle and hesitate; I am your car ! - 2003 Lexus ES 300

The problems Lexus will not address: (1) Audible rattling sound outside the vehicle during low speed acceleration (2) Transmission hesitation below 40 and revs past red line when floored at 40 (3) Bridgestone factory tires dangerous loss of control on wet pavement at 50+

  • the pursuit of mediocrity - 2003 Lexus ES 300

having bought a new 1999 es 300 that i found flawless, i traded it in on a 2003 es 300 that has brought nothing but heartache. the ride and lexus premium sound system qualities are diminished as well as the interior quiet while driving. its like a wind tunnel now. the sound systems midrange is tinny and thin while the bass booms with reverberation at normal volume. ive found no help from the dealer. my love affair with lexus is over.
